After experimenting with various forms of exercise once graduating from university, Charlene still found herself drawn to Pilates. What set Pilates apart from the other exercises, was the ability to strengthen her mind body connection. The more she practiced, the more improvements she saw to her own body awareness and she found this fascinating. So much so, that she became inspired to become a Pilates instructor and help others discover that feeling of strength, stability and body awareness. After continuing to live the corporate life in investment banking and the insurance industry for over 12 years, she has witnessed first-hand, the detriments of what a desk job can have on your body. She loves the way Pilates has changed every aspect of her life, and will often find herself correcting her posture in meetings, breathing through movement patterns and craving whole body movement! Furthermore, she loves the fact that Pilates is a form of exercise she can practice for life, well into retirement.

Charlene obtained her full comprehensive certification through Balanced Body and is certified in Mat, Reformer, and Apparatus. She apprenticed under Zayna Gold, completed the Boston Body Pilates Mentoring Program and is currently studying for the Nationally Certified Pilates Teacherexam.

She is originally from Melbourne, Australia, and has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from the University of Melbourne. When she isn’t teaching, or practicing Pilates herself, she also works as a consultant for a catastrophe modeling company where she models both man-made and natural catastrophes for insurance companies. In her spare time, she enjoys running and is a huge fan of chocolate. Seriously, she has chocolate, in some form, every day!
